Rates:
Since there is such a huge range of qualities, types, and sizes of incoming documents, and such a wide range of proofreading, copyediting and editing services we provide, we choose to price by the job, rather than by the page or by the word. You are therefore assured of never paying for more than your share of work, and are never shortchanged in quality. Why should you pay us, say, $5 to edit a page with virtually nothing on it? Or why should we agree to accept only $.50 to fix a page that needs a complete rewrite or extensive source verification? By charging by the job, we can always give you fair and accurate results. (But if you really want a per/page price, we'll furnish that for you too.)Proof-It provides superior proofreading and editing quality, and fast turnaround based on a rate of $30 per hour. Rush projects—fewer than two business days turn-around when other work must be sidelined—are $40 per hour. We work quickly and accurately, so you can be assured of good value.
Free trial and Quotations:
Send us several typical pages of your project as an email attachment. If it looks like we can help, we'll proof many or all of those pages for free. Then, based on how long it took us to do your sample, and the size of the whole project, we'll be able to quote exactly what we'd charge to do the complete job, and you'll be able to see exactly what we'll be able to do for you. No surprises for you or for us.Non-profit organizations:
We are pleased to offer many non-profit groups a significantly reduced rate.Billing:
We will work on any size project, but there is a minimum charge of $20 per billing. An e-invoice in .pdf form will be sent after the work is completed. We request payment by check or money order in U.S. dollars drawn on a U.S. bank. We also reserve the right to request a good-faith up-front deposit from new customers and on larger projects.
